Attached is the Planning Department’s bi-weekly Early Notification Report for Certified Neighborhood Councils. The purpose of this report is to provide Neighborhood Councils with the earliest possible information about all applications for planning entitlements that have been filed in your neighborhood, even though not all applications are complete and some cases may eventually be withdrawn. Included in the report is contact information about the applicant so your Neighborhood Council can obtain more information about the project very early in the process. You will see that the report is provided in PDF and Excel formats.

LA DWP Seeks Public Input on Expansion of Solar Power in L.A.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is seeking public input on plans to expand solar power in Los Angeles during public workshops to be held this September. The workshops, planned for regional locations throughout Los Angeles, will offer an opportunity for the public to comment on existing and proposed solar programs. Interested parties are invited to attend, learn about the future of solar power in Los Angeles and provide input.

Please click the link below to see the agenda for the September 16, 2009 PNC meeting. Note the two presentations slated on the agenda and the amount of time we are allotting for each; these are two important items and we wish to do due diligence in granting sufficient time for us to engage with them in these presentations.
Also as of this writing, I have not received any word of a standing committee meeting prior to our general meeting. I would ask that Board members refer to our Standing Rules document (I sent it out last month) so that you will become familiar with our established guidelines and policy(ies) for committee meetings and how to request getting items placed on the agenda for future meetings, etc. If you do not have the Standing Rules document, please reply accordingly and I will get it to you when I send out the minutes for review and correction before Wednesday's meeting.

Neighborhood Councils Action Summit - Oct. 3
Dear Friends: On October 3, 2009, starting at 8:00 a.m., neighborhood council leaders and stakeholders from around the city will meet at Los Angeles City College for the first Neighborhood Councils Action Summit, a bold grass-roots attempt to find out if there is a way to organize the Congress of Neighborhoods that gives a stronger and more meaningful voice to the councils.

DWP has a Memorandum of Understanding
DWP has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 73 Certified Neighborhood Councils whereby DWP provides notification for significant matters and proposed actions by the Board of Water and Power Commission.
