About Pacoima Neighborhood Council

Welcome to Pacoima Rock The volunteer members the PNC endeavor to provide stakeholders with information about how to get more involved in city government. Members sometimes act as "neighborhood lobbyists" and grassroots organizers, helping the community to express its will to elected officials and have their voices heard. The PNC also coordinates local improvement projects to make Pacoima an even better place to live and work. An example of coordinating with local government is the involvement with the development of the old Price Pfister site at the corner of Paxton Street and San Fernando Road. Through this involvement, the PNC held two (2) large community meetings at which priorities were established to ensure the development met strict environmental guidelines, traffic and parking were mitigated, and the development design is complimentary to the community. Yet another example of a project is the Bulky Item Blast, in which PNC is collaborating with local organizations, Valley Economic Development Center and Pacoima Beautiful, and Pacoima Graffiti Busters, to implement a bulky item pick-up program concentrating only in Pacoima, therefore ensuring that illegally dumped items are picked up in hours rather than days.

Why Get Involved?
This is a question that is always asked; Why should I get involved? Well the answer is similar to the question of Why Vote? You vote to voice your opinion and effectuate change. Neighborhood Councils are the vehicle by which stakeholders can implement positive change. Past victories have included: ? Implementation of two (2) traffic signal along Van Nuys Blvd ? Removal of a billboard depicting a strip club ? Funding of a local charter school for a much-needed summer school program ? Collaboration with local organizations to plan the 1st Annual Pacoima Fiesta ? Establishment of a much-needed bulky item pick-up program for Pacoima only ? and much, much more.
